The Factory in Westland has some of the top Basketball Trainers and Coaches in the state of Michigan, who have trained players of all ages and levels, helping them become the best player they can be. Rich Sherwood

Owner
Rich Sherwood has coached High School, Middles School and Travel Basketball for almost 20 years. He founded Factory Basketball in 2013, and opened The Factory Training Center in 2018. Over 50 of his former players have gone on to play in college, and nearly 100 former Factory players have done so.

Kate Sherwood

Kate Sherwood had a successful HS and College career at Belleville HS and Wayne State University scoring 1489 Pts in HS, being a 2 times All-GLIAC 2nd Team honoree, GLIAC All-Defensive Team Selection, #4 All-Time in FT% at WSU (82.5%), and ranked Nationally in FT% two years in a row (#13 and #23). She led her team in minutes played her senior season as her team made the NCAA Tournament. After playing, Kate was a Graduate Asst Coach at EMU, then as Asst Coach at Tennessee Tech, where they won the OVC Conference and made the NCAA Tournament.

Anna Fernandez
Anna Fernandez

Anna Fernandez was a stellar HS player at Plymouth Christian Academy, leading her team to the State Championship Game her senior season. She went on to play college at Wheaton College before playing her last 3 seasons at Calvin College, where she was s two-time MIAA All-League Player, two-time All-Region Player, 1000 point scorer, and a 2026 WBCA All-Star.

UIS Athlete of the Year in college, scoring over 1000 points. Has played professionally overseas for over a decade in Germany, Australia, and also in Canada and the USA. Kyle is an Elite Scorer with career highs of 56 points while in Germany and 47 while in Australia.

Andrew Leamy
Andrew Leamy

Andrew Leamy knows what it takes to be a winner, being part of two Nationally ranked JUCO teams at Henry Ford, then Playing at U of M Dearborn where he was an Elite Shooter, including shooting 85.5% from the FT Line. Andrew is big on Fundamentals, emphasizing discipline and doing the little things consistently.

Josh Reynolds was dominant HS player at Plymouth HS in Canton. He went on to play college basketball at Wayne State before transferring to Madonna University where he was part of one of the top programs in the Country. Josh has played professionally overseas for 5 years.

Nic Sweeney played his last 3 years of basketball at Madonna University where he helped his team to Conference Championship his junior season, and a NAIA Playoffs birth his senior year. Coach Nic is an Elite shooter who understands what is required to reach your potential. He is passionate about inspiring young athletes to be the best they can be, which shows up in the energy he brings to his classes.

Coach Shae Oleta Smith is the first female student assistant for the Madonna Mens Basketball Team, was the Detroit Pistons Jr. NBA Coach of the Year, is founder of Oleta One Basketball, and is an advocate for the Nike X Pistons Game Growers.
