Basketball Skills Trainer
Coach Kate Sherwood had a successful career at Wayne State University, where she was voted to the ALL-GLIAC 2nd Team twice and named to the GLIAC All-Defensive Team. Ranked #4 in WSU's all-time free-throw percentage at 82.5%, she was known for relentlessly attacking defenders and getting downhill.
During the 2021–22 season, Kate ranked 13th nationally in NCAA Division II free-throw percentage at 89%. The following year, she was once again nationally ranked, finishing 23rd at 86%. In her final season, Kate averaged 11.3 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game, while leading her team in minutes played.
Coach Kate places a strong emphasis on proper footwork, especially when finishing around the rim. She works with athletes of all ages and skill levels, teaching many of our group classes in addition to offering private lessons. Her areas of expertise include ballhandling, finishing and pivot-foot development. She also leads our Off-Hand Development and 60-Minute Skills classes.
