Our Facility - The Factory

Built for one purpose: Building Better Athletes.

The Factory Basketball Training Facility in Westland Michigan

The Factory grew out of a need for something better. As Factory Basketball continued to grow, we found ourselves renting gym space throughout Southeast Michigan and constantly moving basketballs, training equipment and teams from location to location.

In 2018, we decided to build a permanent home designed specifically for player development. What started as an old warehouse in Westland has been transformed, upgraded and continually reinvested in to become The Factory — a complete basketball training facility built around the way we believe athletes should train.

We have never believed in settling for good enough. The Factory has continued to evolve with new training equipment, expanded development opportunities, a new Strength & Performance Area, a new Front Desk & Team Room, and a new Parent Viewing & Work Area.

Today, every part of The Factory is designed with a purpose: help athletes train more efficiently, learn the game more deeply and become the best players they can be.

Pat Sherwood Court at The Factory

Pat Sherwood Court was designed specifically for basketball development. Our unique Wall of Rims features six secondary baskets positioned close together so athletes can get more repetitions while remaining under the direct supervision of our trainers.

Each secondary rim has its own quick fold-out rebounder, allowing athletes to spend less time chasing basketballs and more time locking in their shooting mechanics.

On the opposite end of the court, one main basket and two secondary baskets allow larger groups to get high-volume repetitions during classes such as Finishing School and Pivot Foot while still receiving hands-on instruction from a trainer.

Two additional full-size baskets at mid-court give us even more flexibility, allowing private lessons and additional training to take place while other activities are happening on the main court.

High-efficiency LED lighting and shot clocks at both ends of the court help create a professional training environment where every minute has a purpose.

More supervised quality reps means quicker improvement.

Strength and Performance Area at The Factory

Our new Strength & Performance Area expands what we're able to do beyond basketball skill development. Athletes can work on strength, speed, explosiveness, durability and overall athletic performance in a dedicated training space.

This area also includes our Wall-Mounted Resistance Training System. With four stations that can each accommodate up to four athletes, as many as 16 athletes can train at one time.

This allows an entire team to complete an intense resistance and speed workout efficiently while giving coaches the ability to supervise and correct technique.

Front Desk and Team Room at The Factory

Our recent renovations include a completely updated Front Desk and Team Room, creating a more welcoming entrance to The Factory and adding an important new space for athletes, coaches and families.

The Team Room was designed as a flexible space for team meetings, classroom instruction, film study, basketball education and other off-court development.

Benches around the perimeter provide seating for approximately 18–20 athletes, allowing an entire team to meet together comfortably away from the court.

Portable bleachers in the center of the room provide seating for another 10–12 athletes or parents. Because the bleachers can be moved, the room can be reconfigured depending on how it is being used.

The result is a versatile space where we can bring athletes together to teach, watch film, meet as a team and develop the mental side of the game, while also providing additional seating for parents and families when needed.

Parent Viewing and Work Area at The Factory

The Factory's upgrades weren't designed only for our athletes. We also wanted to create a better experience for the parents and families who spend so much time supporting them.

Our new upstairs Parent Area gives families several ways to spend their time while athletes are training.

Parents can watch the action from our elevated viewing area along the stairs, relax in the upstairs seating area, or follow the action through TV screens displaying what is happening on the court below.

For parents who need to make the most of their time, we've also added a dedicated work desk, providing a place to open a laptop and get work done while their athlete is in a class, lesson, practice or workout.

Developing an athlete requires a commitment from the entire family. We wanted the upgraded Factory to provide a better experience for everyone who walks through our doors.

Basketball training equipment at The Factory

The Factory is equipped with specialized basketball training tools designed to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of every workout.

Our equipment includes an army of D-Men, dozens of Crossbar Dribble Trainers, Solo Assist Rebounders, vertical leap training tools, resistance equipment and much more.

You never need to bring a basketball to The Factory. We keep racks of men's and women's basketballs on hand, along with smaller 26.5-inch basketballs for our youngest athletes.

Shoot-A-Way 10K Gun at The Factory

Advanced shooters can get up hundreds of shots in a short period of time using our Shoot-A-Way 10K Gun.

The Gun allows players to train at game speed, track makes and misses, and repeat shots from multiple locations without wasting valuable training time chasing rebounds.

Our facility is also home to banners and displays celebrating the athletes who have trained and competed with The Factory and gone on to play college basketball.

Nearly 100 former Factory Basketball players have gone on to compete at the collegiate level, and two former players have continued their careers as NCAA Division I college basketball coaches.

These displays are more than decorations. They remind our current athletes every day of what is possible when talent, coaching and consistent work come together.
