Basketball places a tremendous amount of stress on the lower body through
running, jumping, landing, cutting and rapid changes of direction. Female
athletes, in particular, face a significantly greater risk of ACL injury
than their male counterparts, which was one of the primary reasons we
created our Pre-Hab Strength program.
Our classes focus on developing strength and stability through the hips,
knees, hamstrings, core and other areas that play an important role in
controlling athletic movement. Athletes also work on balance, mobility
and body control to help them move more efficiently and confidently.
Training may include resistance bands, stability balls, BOSU balls,
weighted balls, bodyweight exercises and other methods designed to build
functional strength without simply focusing on how much weight an athlete
can lift.
The goal is twofold: help athletes become stronger and more stable on the
court while also improving the physical qualities that can help reduce
the risk of ACL and other lower-extremity injuries.
