Our History:

The Factory is about Building Better Athletes. Coach Sherwood started Factory Basketball in 2013 to teach a group of middle school girls how to play basketball “The Right Way.” This one team soon grew into a program that was renting gym space at schools around the area 5 nights a week. On any given night we would have teams at 1-2 schools in Belleville, Plymouth, Canton, Northville, Novi or Wixom from 6:00-9:00. It was at this time that we also began offering our Pre-Hab injury prevention strength training for our athletes.

The logistics of moving our practice and training equipment as well as our strength equipment became overwhelming in 2018, which lead us to the decision to open The Factory. We signed our lease in August of 2018, and began using the building almost immediately while simultaneously performing the build-out construction. Here are a couple photos showing our temporary Rim/Court we used and the construction of our court.

It has been a long and complicated process transforming an old warehouse into a modern basketball training facility. It required a vision, a detailed plan, and significant commitment of resources to that vision. We completed the floor at the end of November and have not looked back.

Our new basketball court

In the seven+ years we have been in the building. We have continued to innovate and reinvest in the building; never settling for “good enough.” We work tirelessly to create the best training facility possible supplying our athletes with all the resources necessary to empower them to reach their goals. We do this with a positive culture of encouragement and growth for our athletes. That is why over these 11 years, 51 of our athletes have gone on to play college sports earning nearly two million dollars in scholarship money.

It is with this spirit of constant innovation that we launched our membership program which is like no other basketball facility in our area (possibly anywhere). As a member, athletes can take training classes for a fraction of the cost of paying for individual classes, thereby making consistant regular training more affordable, and within reach for more athletes. We did this because we know that improvement comes from consistant work, and most people just can not afford to be in most gyms that often. Meanwhile our Premium Membership allows athletes to take unlimited classes Mon-Sat all month long.

So what’s next for the Factory?

Our next innovation is our 2025 facility makeover. This makeover includes a new front desk, expanded and improved player room, benches for games, a new parent viewing area that includes CC TV of the action on the court, and MOST IMPORTANTLY an Expanded court that will allow us to expand our offerings to the community. These new offerings will include:

Adult 3 on 3 and Full Court Leagues

A Weekend Unified Basketball Program

A Weekend Youth Instructional Program
